Football: Here’s How Spurs Win The Premier League

Spurs are becoming the kind of team which can win the league pretty soon but they only thing they lack is a manager like me to get the across the line. There are small margins between winning and losing a Premier League trophy so I’m going to take a punt at getting The Lilywhites closer in the next 546 words. COYS!

Where Do I Start?

I would argue that Spurs have the most complete team in the Premier League in terms of players per position. If you look across the squad, there are two strong players in every area of the pitch meaning injuries shouldn’t make too much of a threat but injuries have often have been the reason for an end-of-season crumble.

Out: Moussa Sissoko.

Image result for moussa sissokoOnly one Spurs player should be shown the door and the reason isn’t actually his fault. Sissoko has proven he has the quality to outshine the likes of Paul Pogba (during international duty) in a team full of stars so you would assume the French midfielder would walk into the Spurs line-up but his £30m price tag has been weighing him down.

I also believe the starting 11 is pretty settled so throwing in a pacey and aggressive player like Sissoko could upset the order. It is harsh but I would show him the door and get back some of his expensive fee.

Unfortunately for Spurs, the signing of Vincent Janssen hasn’t gone to plan and he hasn’t provided great cover for the club’s talisman Harry Kane.

That is where my first signing would come in. It is a tough task to find a classy striker who is happy to be second fiddle but Edin Dzeko (now at Roma) has played that role in the Premier League before at Manchester City and he is available for less than £25m.

The Bosnian forward could be the perfect man to replace Kane when required due to their similar styles of play. Not only is he proven in the Pemier League , his goal-scoring record is outstanding, averaging a goal every 2.4 games.

Every club in the world seems to be on the hunt for a top-flight centre-back and the North London club are no different. Despite the blossoming partnership of Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld I would be looking to bring in some cover in the shape of Michael Keane from Burnley.

spursThe England defender has had a great season and has enough Premier League experience to become the perfect back-up defender. Having improved our defence and attack, I might need a new midfield passer and Max Meyer could be the perfect man.

The German youngster has impressed in the Bundesliga other the last few seasons and his youthful enthusiasm will fit well with the current team.

What would the starting XI look like?

As I’ve said, changing this Spurs team around won’t be easy but I would be tempted to rotate the formation into a 4-3-3 with Heung Min Son and Dele Alli playing alongside Kane in a front three with support from Christian Eriksen in the play maker role. I believe the slight system change will get Spurs over the line in big games, which they have struggled to win in recent times.

Where would we finish?

First.
