You just have to know the key words. Walk into The Garden Bar in Hove, next to Brighton and ask to meet ‘the Dictator’ and you will get a shot of a mysterious and rare gin. The best part is that as long as you say the word ‘Dictator,’ the first and only shot you will get is totally free! Unless you can con the bar staff for another. This stuff is as rare as hen’s teeth so it’s going to run out for sure.
Apparently this happens in different places around the world but we can share with you that right now, it’s in Hove. You just need to be in the know.
The Dictator is a rare and treasured Colombian premium gin with a heritage dating back to the late 1700’s. A Spanish conqueror named Severo Arango y Ferro arrived in Colombia and began trading local spirits. The story was that he had a ‘strong personality’ and was therefore nick-named the ‘Dictator.’ Our guess is that he was what you might call a ‘hard man.’
You can identify this special Gin by its slight amber colour reflecting the 35 weeks it has spent in a barrel, and by its subtle smell of tangerine and lemon. The secret to the Dictator’s flavour is the time it has spent in oak barrels previously used to age Rum.
We’re sure it will run out so you may want to get yours while you can. Don’t be too greedy as we don’t want to spoil the secret. We will also see what else we can find.. You will find the Dictator here Address: 324 Portland Rd, Hove BN3 5LF Remember, ‘I would like to meet the Dictator.’ Felix!
