Are China Football’s Moneybags About to Take Over the Premier League?

First things first, the MLS league and Americans don’t concern me at all They sign old-age players who have good beards and slippy football boots, so lets not compare football in China to American

The Chinese Super League literally just bought a Brazilian international who would walk into Arsenals first team ahead of Mesut Ozil (if of course he’s having a good day) and is the same man who scored twice for Chelsea in an unbelievable win against Juventus not so long ago, if you haven’t got it yet I’m talking about Premier League winner, Oscar.

chinaExcuse me for sounding a little bit afraid but if they can prize away a kid who’s got his whole future ahead of him, imagine what will happen when they come for money-grabbing ballers like Eden Hazard or Jamie Vardy? Maybe not Vardy right now, he’s back stabbed enough to last him a lifetime but you get what I mean, don’t you?

The Chinese League is quickly becoming a super power in football. Yes, there’s guys like Hulk out there scoring worldy goals for cracking GIFs on the internet but he openly admits he moves to places for money; heck, this man moved to Russia for a fair bit where the toughest footballers couldn’t handle it (Chris Samba for example). But then the issue really does go deeper, they grabbed John Obi Mikel (I’ll explain why I mention him in a sec), Ricardo Carvalho, Axel Witsel, Graziano Pelle and the list really does go on.

The reason I pick on them 4 is for 4 very different reasons. Mikel has been rotting on the bench for an awfully long time at Chelsea but lets not forget that this man is pretty high profile over in Nigeria and brings a big fan base from Africa. Then there’s Carvalho, the only reason I point him out is because they proved they have the MLS DNA in them too, they can grab a few old guys as well.

This is where the picture starts to get scary; Axel Wiesel had a chance to sign for several PL clubs and several Champions League clubs but went to China; yes the money is great but this man is going to be an icon over there, he rejected a move to the MLS too and right there is where I say you can find the difference. If you’re not convinced, Pelle is my final case study. He was Italy’s finest man in the world cup (on the pitch and with his looks), he could have gone to Chelsea but went to China.

The Chinese League has a pull like no other foreign league. Players moved to MLS for the lifestyle and the money but China only offers money, but right now it is building a huge force of recognised, world class talent, something the MLS has never had. In the next 5 years you can expect to see your favourite players jetting off to China, especially with the Sky Sports TV deal around the corner. You better believe that the Premier League is about to drop to the 3rd best league in the world…
