Ariana Grande looked like she had stepped off the set of Clueless in December last year. She was dressed in Moncler, a Maglione Diamond-Stitch Turtleneck Sweater and Hounds tooth Printed Nylon Skirt. The two items are sold out but Ariana inspired us to do some digging into the best-patterned sweaters and the 90’s classic, patterned mini skirts, to achieve her look.
Let’s start with skirts. Staying true to Ariana’s favourite colour, we have included a frayed pink gingham mini skirt from forever 21, contributing a more punk than pop princess vibe. Topshop offers a Checkered button zip mini skirt, it is so versatile, it can be worn to work and has a more mature appeal than your average mini. They also offer a checkered Frill Waist skirt, we love this detail to modernise a classic, yet still keeping the look feminine.
We all remember Cher Horowitz’s (Clueless) iconic yellow plaid co-ord. No dedication to 90’s mini skirt would be complete without one. Try Urban Outfitters Mustard yellow pelmet skirt and channel your inner Cher.
Now to jumpers. Ariana’s sweater is almost as adorable as she is. In keeping with the turtleneck style, we have chosen Madewell -Ribbed striped Jersey turtleneck. Similarly striped, Marc Jacobs offers a pretty in pink Striped blend sweater. Gucci’s patterned jumper focuses on fun print in black and red.
Urban Outfitters triumphed when it came to colourful jumpers on the high street. Our top picks being a Multi striped funnel neck jumper and BDG Rainbow colour-blocked jumper. Yet Asos has impressed us with Y.A.S glitter swirl high neck knitted jumper, it is truly unique.
