Music: Felix Fridays No.8 Is All About New Releases

The current landscape of music is ever-changing, with new releases from incredible artists happening daily and on so many different platforms, it can be hard to keep up. That’s why we’ve decided to do the hard work for you and compile a playlist featuring some of the best new releases. Check out the full playlist here.

We kick it off with St. Vincent who has just released a new track named ‘Los Ageless.’ It’s an incredible, up-beat track with a blend of gritty synths and electric guitar and a chorus we’ve had on repeat since the first play.

Lesser known as Annie Clark, the 34-year old Texan has announced her long-awaited new album ‘MASSEDUCTION,’ pronounced ‘Mass Seduction’ rather than ‘Mass Education’ will be released on October 13th via Loma Vista.

Secondly, another artist who has crawled out of the woodwork after quite some time is England’s own Sam Smith, who has just today released a new track titled ‘Too Good At Goodbyes.’ It’s another heart-wrenching ballad and arguably it’s what he does best. The comeback track is his first new release since 2015 and the sound is a great hint of what’s to come.

A gorgeous follow-up track comes from The National who have released their seventh studio album today, titled ‘Sleep Well Beast.’ The track we’ve chosen is a beautiful piano ballad titled ‘Carin at the Liquor Store.’

RnB darling Kelela has recently released a new track called ‘Frontline,’ which starts off slow and ends with a bang and it’s only to be expected from an artist so talented. Like Sam Smith’s track, ‘Frontline’ is a break-up song and it cements her standing as one of RnB’s greatest young artists to watch.

Two other great albums that have dropped today come from the band Superfood with their album ‘Bambino’ and Anna of the North who has released the brilliant electro dream-pop record ‘Lovers.’ Listen to our picks ‘Unstoppable’ from Superfood and ‘Money’ a dreamy, sassy track from Lovers.

We’ve chosen two more upbeat tracks to end the playlist, after all, it is a Friday.

Firstly, we’ve got Princess Nokia’s track ‘Brujas’ which is a fabulous, punchy track off the recently released deluxe version of her highly acclaimed album ‘1992’. If you haven’t yet heard of Princess Nokia, it’s about time you had a listen, she is a young rapper from New York, making waves with her music and her fierce, unapologetic attitude.

To top the playlist off, we have the new track from Maroon 5, ‘What Lovers Do.’ The reason we’ve chosen this one is more so due to the featuring artist SZA, another incredible young RnB artist who is absolutely smashing it right now, having recently released her wildly anticipated album CTRL.

Enjoy all these new releases and more on our Felix Fridays Playlist #8 which you can find here. We have new playlists every Friday!
