Football: RamboFYI’s Predictions for This Weekend

There are some cracking games this weekend, let’s take a punt at my predictions.

Bournemouth vs Man City

predictionsCity has a pretty solid record away from home against Bournemouth and the Seasiders’ slow start won’t do them any favours.

Sergio Aguero is yet to find his true mojo, which makes me think it’ll be a brace from the Argentine this weekend that settles the points in a 0-2 win.

Watford vs Brighton

I fear for Brighton this season, with a lack of goals and a very Sunday-league defensive style in the sense that the whole team seems to close the ball down and they lack organisation. Without a leader in sight I expect a not-so spectacular Watford 1-0 win with a goal for new boy Richarlison.

Palace vs Swansea

predictionsNeither side has started the season as they would’ve liked and with Gylfi Sigurdsson’s exit, Swansea finds itself with a real problem in a serious lack of quality in forward areas.

Palace’s new manager Frank De Boer (left) has found it difficult to set any rhythm in his team’s style of play but the Swans’ lack of goals will probably cost them any chance of a win. I’m expecting a 2-0 home win.

Huddersfield vs Southampton

What a fairy-tale start in the Premier League for Huddersfield and I’m expecting it to continue. Southampton hasn’t really clicked yet this season, there seems to be something missing in the side and Huddersfield’s high-pressing counter-attacking game will probably catch the Saints out. I’m expecting a cracker with the home side stealing the win late on, 2-1.

Newcastle vs West Ham

predictionsIt’s been a strange old return to the Premier League for Rafa Benitez, and West Ham’s crazy transfer window hasn’t allowed the players to settle.

Newcastle is desperate for a win having lost midweek to Nottingham Forrest but one of the safest predictions of the week is that it won’t turn things around just yet.

I’m expecting the Magpies’ poor run to continue with the Hammers heaping more misery on Benitez and Co in a 1-3 away win.

Man United vs Leicester

Image result for image lukakuThis is probably the game of the day given that United can’t stop scoring and Leicester looks a lot better than it did at the start of last season. The Red Devils have a front line that would frighten any team in the world but Leicester have some attacking threats of their own.

I’m expecting an end-to-end thriller at Old Trafford with late goals pulling Jose Mourinho’s side through again. It will be 3-2 to United in what should be a brilliant game.

There are four games on Sunday with two promising to be brilliant. Let’s start our predictions with…

Chelsea vs Everton.

predictionsAntonio Conte doesn’t seem 100% happy with the way the transfer window has gone and the way his side has kicked off its title defence. Everton on the other hand has recruited superbly and the arrival of Sigurdsson has made it a real force.

I’m expecting a load of goals at Stamford Bridge including one from Alvaro Morata who has looked impressive so far for the Blues. I’m predicting a 2-2 draw but I’m absolutely convinced the game will swing back and forth with several big chances for both sides.

West Brom vs Stoke

It’s a funny fixture this one. Both sides are struggling for goals and neither has a proper goal-scorer which makes me think it will be a low-scoring game decided by narrow chances like set-pieces. Stoke does not normally enjoy away trips and I’m expecting that bad run to continue with another headed-goal win for the Baggies 1-0.

Spurs vs Burnley

predictionsI have to be honest – I’m not expecting anything amazing from either of these two sides.

Spurs have looked a long way from their best during games at Wembley, while Burnley played like Barcelona on the opening day in their 3-2 huge win over Chelsea on the opening day.

I’m expecting Sean Dyche’s team to defend relentlessly but a bit of magic from Dele Ali should fire Spurs into the lead late in the game to secure a 1-0 win.

Liverpool vs Arsenal

Image result for image kloppThis was arguably the game of the season last year when Liverpool beat Arsenal 3-4 at the Emirates. Both sides have started off their seasons in strange fashion and have been as unpredictable as ever.

Each side has issues off the pitch with players (Alexis Sanchez and Philippe Coutinho) but I’m expecting The Gunners to struggle at Anfield allowing Jurgen Klopp to maintain his 100% record against the top six with a 3-2 win.
