Style: The Coolest Supreme Accessories

Skate brand Supreme is the epitome of cult streetwear but sets itself apart in the fashion world by controversially applying that branding to “accessories” that range from skate-related items to ludicrous objects that transcend all reason, let alone logical price.

What are the strangest offerings to have been stamped “Supreme” for a costly premium?

The Brick

Perhaps the most famous Supreme accessory, and one that made headlines when released in 2016, was a common house brick. Originally retailing at $30 (£23), some bricks that were resold online reached almost $1000 (£777) as devoted fans fought to own this unlikely gem.

Gilapple Light

A 2016 collaboration with Japanese fashion brand Undercover produced an extravagant $158 (£123) lamp in the shape of an apple, which boasted an exciting dimmer function.

Tall Boy Bags

These are visually inspired by the practice of hiding bottles of booze in a paper bag when drinking in public. They were a 2007 release in packs of five bearing a “Fuck Tha Police” crest on the bottom.

Now very rare, two of these bags are available on eBay for £30, which is about the price of a more premium bottle you wouldn’t need to hide.

New Testament Stash Box

They call it the “Good Book” and that Supreme cover conceals a hidden compartment.

The 2013 release fetches a just under £100 in resales, so the question is whether you will have enough cash left over to need a hiding place.

Skate Key

This skate tool from 2006 may seem like a perfectly normal accessory for a skater brand to sell. However the piece has been cleverly designed to function as a smoking pipe, lending some irony to the stamped pledge of being built to the “highest” specifications.

Collectors’ estimates and examples on eBay suggest a price of £115.

Cash Cannon Money Gun

Sometimes it seems like Supreme is printing its own money by stamping its logo on any old items, and this 2017 accessory literally comes with a stash of Supreme “money” as ammunition. The gun’s resale price is about £150 but there is a good chance that your landlord won’t accept the provided currency as payment when you find yourself short at the end of the month, even if you do fire it at them.

Fire Extinguisher

This piece from 2015 has become such an icon that if you can’t afford the three-figure price of one on eBay then a printed photograph of it is available for £15. It was a collaboration with Kidde which is an actual fire safety brand so this is a functioning piece. The company’s packaging reads “disposable unit, replace after use” although that advice is unlikely to be followed by Supreme fans.

UK collectors complained that the collaboration was only released in the US and Japan while the pressurised container cannot be shipped.

Supreme Tools

There seems to be no end of high sought-after Supreme tools like hammers, bolt cutters, crowbars and even a branded toolbox.

Most of the bolt cutters sell for about £70 which seems modest compared to some of these rare accessories. Nevertheless once one tool joins your collection more are sure to follow.
