Working in an office is becoming less and less attractive for companies as well as workers. Sara Sutton Fell, the founder of Flexjobs, a website to find remote work, says flexible working has many benefits for companies such as a more productive and satisfied workforce and a wider talent pool to draw on as companies are less restricted by location. It is also “greener” as the company does not have to maintain a whole building and workers spend less time commuting. Forbes reports that 72% of millennials want to be their own boss. So where do you go if you’re freelancing or launching your own business? Co-working spaces! London has plenty of them – here are the coolest ones.
WeWork Moorgate
WeWork is a US firm that provides co-working spaces around the globe and luckily for us, it has a few in London! The one in Moorgate stands out as it has a rooftop where you can enjoy the London skyline, bike storage and showers, and it’s dog-friendly. You can also get unlimited free coffee, beer and fruit juices. If you want to actually do some work instead of chilling on the rooftop there are eight floors of office space. The cheapest option is getting a hot desk for £350 a month.
Campus London
Located in trendy Shoreditch, Campus London is Google’s very own co-working space. There’s a catch though. You have to be an entrepreneur working towards building your start-up to be able to use their facilities. You have to apply to be able to work there and if accepted it will set you back at least £275 per month. They host talks and workshops each week and since it only accepts entrepreneurs you’re sure to meet some interesting people there.
The Dock
The Dock is located on Wapping Lane in the Tobacco Docks. It has meeting rooms, desks, and a lovely café. The cheapest option is to use the hot desks, which will set you back £250 a month. The location is a bit harder to get to than the other co-working spaces listed here but it’s worth it just to be able to see the old ships docked outside.
The Cube
You can find the Cube on Commercial Road in East London. It is a co-working space focused on science, technology, and design. It has lots of natural light, artworks and plenty of plants making it a rather pleasant working environment. The meeting rooms are rented by the hour and the price varies depending on how many people you have. Up to five people costs £35 an hour, 6-10 people is £45 per hour and 11-15 people is £55 per hour.
It goes without saying that all these places have superfast internet and are filled with people wanting to innovate. Let us know what your favourite co-working space is!
