Mobile: The Apps You Need to Own London

Living in London and being mobile can be a bit of a roller coaster as there is so much going on that you are always running out of time. But there are some apps that can help to keep this gigantic city under control. So open up your App Store if you haven’t already downloaded these absolutely essential apps for Londoners.

Acasa

mobileUnless you’re really rich and can afford your own place in London, chances are you’re in a flatshare. Although it’s fun to live with people it can sometimes get a bit tricky to keep up with who owes what, what bills need to be paid when and splitting costs.

However, with Acasa you can do all of this through the app. This helps you eliminate the awkward chasing your flatmates for money situation and helps you stay on top of your bills. The app is free to use so get on it!

Too Good To Go

mobileThis app wants to feed you for cheaper while saving the planet at the same time. Sounds good no? With Too Good To Go you can order food from restaurants who would be throwing it away as waste as they would be unable to sell it the next day. You have to go collect it but it can be as cheap as £2 for what would normally be a £10 meal.

Too Good To Go believes there’s no reason surplus food should be thrown away and they’ve already established themselves in 6 countries and saved over 800’000 meals. Here’s the link

Trainline

mobileTrainline is the number one app for train travel in the UK. The reason why is that train travel can be such a pain, there’s nothing worse than arriving at London Victoria station and having to queue to get an overpriced train ticket. With Trainline you can have all the info you need on your phone. You can see train times, ticket prices, travel time and even where there are free seats on the train you’re taking. Lastly, you can use the app to actually board the train as it will give you a mobile ticket once you booked it on the app. Get to sight and app here..

CityMapper

mobileCitymapper makes it incredibly easy to get around and shows you the fastest way to get anywhere in the city. It gives you every travel option you can think of : walking, cycling, overground/underground, boat, bus and taxi.  The app tells you the travelling time and cost of every journey.

You can put in a postcode, restaurant or venue and it will tell you all the ways you can get there. For those of us trying to lose some weight it will even tell you how many calories you will burn if you walk or cycle.

The maps will show you where you can get Santander bikes and how many are available at any time.

Dice

mobileDice is a must-have for any music lover in London. It shows you all the coolest gigs, even free ones, and the app is crazy simple. It lets you buy tickets (even with Apple Pay), reserve tickets for free gigs, or join the waiting list if a gig is sold out.

If you can no longer go to a gig or have bought too many tickets you can just send them to your mates or give them up for people on the waiting list.

You can enter competitions to win tickets and the app recommends gigs based on past ones you’ve attended.

There you go. Download these apps and you can be sure your busy London life will get a little easier. You won’t have to eat that tasteless microwaved meal when you don’t want to cook and you will travel smarter and enjoy all the live music you need. Sadly there is no app yet for getting out of work tomorrow!
