Pogba’s worth £9.3 Million, £93 Million was a Typo!

Now, I know you’ve just read this title and gone barmy. But, hold up – I have a valid reason. First, hear me out and then tell me i’m wrong IF you still believe so. Pogba’s joined Man United this summer for £93 million but apart from his haircuts, what can you note down on a piece of paper that you actually remember he has done?

Performance v Liverpool? Abysmal. Missing against Arsenal/City? Correct. Scored 20 goals? No. Got a new twitter emoji? Yes.

pogbaThem 2 sentences above sum up his first 6 months back at “home”.  Look, it’s no secret – United were in big trouble this summer and Pogba was showboated like a new Pony by Adidas and United ahead of his move. He was meant to be the solution. He was meant to be the fix in that broken Midfield. Has he been? Probably not. Will he be? Maybe. If he is, is he worth £93 million? Hell no.

Pogba’s performances on the pitch have shown this season that he is not going to be a Man United great in the shape of Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs or even Mr Beckham himself. He’s not shown the great white light of hope we all expected. He has the build and intelligence of a good footballer – but he’s nothing more than a glorified Danny Drinkwater. If you take players around Pogba out of the team, he’s simply an average footballer. We have seen that time and time again this season, most recently versus Liverpool but also Burnley, Stoke did the same to him.

Off the pitch, off the field, Pogba is in a league of his own. He has his own twitter emoji, he has his own channel following, Adidas have him as the poster boy for everything. But, is all that too much? Why is he not concentrating on his football?

Back in the days, it was about being a legend on the pitch not off it. If Pogba has 10 emojis and 7 goals to his name at the end of the season, which one matters more? Maybe Pogba will say the emojis as that makes him money!

I know many will say that Pogba gets a lot of criticism, but if you showboat and showcase yourself in front of the media like he does, your opening yourself up.

Look at Paul Scholes, not a peep from him in his playing days, he just played football. Now, he’s all over the media and gets criticised week to week, rightly so.  However, Scholes has achieved big things, he can now say what he wants. Pogba – he’s still a work in progress and he’s nowhere near the level many believe he already is.

If tomorrow, United got £100m back for Pogba, do you think they would sell him? I think so. Mark my words – Paul Pogba is another Danny Drinkwater with a better haircut and a solid PR team.
