What We All Love About Adele

What’s to say about Adele? there’s something about her down to earth nature and approachable likeability that sets her aside from the stereotypical celebrity and its formulaic nature. She’s a Grammy, Oscar and Brit award winning singer who has amassed almost 20 awards during her time at the top of British music. Said to be worth a staggering £85 million, she earnt £35 million in 2016 alone, and has become Britain’s richest female performer, topping The Sunday Times rich list.

Yet, there is an alluring charm about her which massively sets her apart from her musical counterparts. She’s incredibly normal, understated, and as a result boasts a vast fan base throughout the world.

adeleDespite her phenomenal success, Adele exudes likeability and almost shatters the typical nature of celebrities with such wealth and notoriety. Yet another notable quality of Adele is her characterful and distinctive voice which hasn’t changed at all from the day she gave her first interview, keeping true to her Tottenham roots and shunning the limelight in favour of traditional simplicity with her partner and child. She has often spoken of her battles with postnatal depression, even explaining it has somewhat scared her off of having a second child and gained a huge flurry of support and admiration in the process.

Adele has an endless North London charm which seems unwavering under the pressure of extreme stardom. A wonderful example of her genuine integrity is during the 2011 royal wedding between Catherine Middleton and Prince William where Adele was asked to perform at their post-wedding reception. Adele however, couldn’t make the royal performance and instead cooked a BBQ with her friends. Sadly she was replaced by Ellie Golding.

So unwavering is her dedication to her roots that she would shun such a ceremony which would have garnered her yet more fans and sales. But Adele isn’t concerned with sales, she wants to make people happy and perform the music that means most to her. She is the epitome of genuine.

Adored by men and women alike of varying ages, she has such charm than she can win over people far outside of her typical fan base. She’s the best friend you always wish you had, guiding millions of people through heartbreak, falling in love and everything in between.

A figurehead of lovable heartache, she’s the true British icon who doesn’t stop giving. Taking the world by storm album after album yet retaining her British charm, creating a relationship between her, her music and her millions of fans. She has a way of making even her biggest shows feel welcoming. Even her 2016 headline Glastonbury gig felt intimate thanks to her warmth and honesty. There is yet to be another star who has such influence over such a broad spectrum of music, from inspiring young British talent to featuring in songs by grime artists such as Stormzy and has revolutionised what it is to be a celebrity.

Adele doesn’t conform to the expectation of somebody of her notoriety, she isn’t the size nor does she have the attitude you would expect from a woman from working class London roots. That’s the reason everybody loves her.
