Thankfully the US still has a system of government which is separate to the legal system so you can’t just make unbelievably punitive executive orders and not have them judged. In this case, his bizarre order to temporarily ban people from seven countries has been shut down by the courts twice now and the ruling makes it look pretty unlikely it will get anywhere. The ruling means that people from Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen with visas can continue to enter the US, and refugees from around the world, who were also subject to a temporary ban, are no longer blocked.
Of course Trump, like the calm, statesman he is tweeted ‘SEE YOU IN COURT, THE SECURITY OF OUR NATION IS AT STAKE!’
To be clear, the judges stated “no evidence that any alien from any of the countries named in the order” had committed a terrorist attack in the US.’ They also said ‘the public also has an interest in free flow of travel, in avoiding separation of families, and in freedom from discrimination’
So far so good. Trump can now keep fighting by taking it to the supreme court, where most people think he will continue to lose. Judging by his tweets i think this is a guarantee.
The bigger game, you would imagine, is all of the media noise and discussion he generates from the court actions, tweets and rulings which will serve to scare people away from America on the basis that it’s not a very friendly place if you are in deed from these countries or religion. Maybe Trump and team are sniggering away thinking they are accomplishing their goal of this muslim ban no matter what the outcome.
Remember and use the hashtag #noMuslimBan and any other which make the point that these kinds of policies are not from the world we live in.
