When this car hit the streets I can recall being genuinely surprised that the maker of the Jeep would get it so wrong. The PT Cruiser is everything that’s wrong with American cars in the modern era. You can just imaging the executive at the car company pitching a hark back to the drag racer or hot rod era. Maybe the executive was playing with some old rods from his ‘Hot Wheels’ collection but boy, did they get it wrong.
‘The PT Cruiser is considered by a majority to be an ugly vehicle. While it has a small following (bigger when it first came out due to its uniqueness) its odd shape and design is a turn off to most…. It ended up looking like something assembled from whatever was left on the floor.’
I’ve heard them compared to “baby hearses,” and even better ‘It’s ugly, it’s a Chrysler, and a failed attempt at a retro look. It’s your grandma dressing up like a teenager because she thinks it will make her look cool. Did I mention it’s a Chrysler?’
The Chrysler PT Cruiser Cabriolet. “A real ugly duckling. A lack of refinement and driver enjoyment plus poor quality cabin. A novelty car that was no fun at all.” one critic gasped.
Not only is it ugly, it drives badly.. One reviewer commented ‘The PT’s dynamic pitfall is its epic turning circle,’ like doing a U-turn in a 747 plane.
We recently asked if the G-Wiz was the ugliest, but judging by the reviews of this puppy, maybe we misunderstood?
