Train Travel and the Slightest Bit of Weather

One of the things that strikes you in London is what happens to train travel when the wind, rain or god forbid snow kicks in. Having spent years on the tube i, like most Londoner’s, know that inclement weather means peril on the tracks. Last night the weather bureau suggested there would be snow in the area. My thoughts immediately moved to 1. Southern Rail and how i’m sure it will be a catastrophe for their people and 2. How the tube will probably encounter serious problems.

One thing which needs to be pointed out is that the Tube actually runs ‘underground’ and should be immune from weather, apart from wet feet and brollies. A quick check outside and it’s ever so lightly raining, nothing more than spitting. The Tube is going fine. Southern Rail is suffering ‘Minor Disruptions’ on every line. Probably not a great sign. Lets see what the rest of days brings for those who rely on train travel .

But above all, what you always end up thinking is ‘what happens to train travel in other places where the weather is worse?’ How about Iceland or Russia or Canada? Well here’s a wonderful video to answer that simple questions. Train Travel in Canada! Enjoy..
